The Comet App

The comet mission “Rosetta” is one of the most complex space projects in Europe and – being the first comet landing in the history of space travel – a milestone in the exploration of comets. In the special exhibition “COMETS – The Mission Rosetta. Journey to the Origins of the Solar System” in the Natural History Museum Vienna, visitors could get spectacular insights into the mission, see dreamlike pictures of a fissured, deep black celestial body and learn more about first results of the measurements of the mission in space.

Archimedes Exhibitions has developed an app to accompany the exhibition: The real-time 3D app “DLR Comets” allows people fascinated by the Rosetta mission from all over the world to take a virtual tour through the exhibition. Using a smartphone, laptop or tablet, visitors can move under a virtual starry sky and view the exhibits with spectacular images and fascinating explanations. The highlight of the app is a comet model which can be observed in 3D from all angles.

The app can be downloaded free of charge from the iTunes Store or the Google Play Store or can be visited on the “virtual tour” website (for all popular browsers).
