Our new outdoor exhibition Energetica on the roof of the NEMO Science Center in Amsterdam is dedicated to sustainable energies and makes them playfully tangible with interactive exhibits. The exhibition reacts dynamically to the interplay between visitors and nature: the existing energy of wind and sun is directly represented by water fountains, for example, with whose power visitors can compete. Hands-on installations enable visitors to create rainbows, high-tech sun chairs can be illuminated with thermochromic colours. It’s all about power, sensitivity and an awareness of self-sufficient energy supply, which will also play an important role in Germany in the future. Accordingly, the exhibits are part of nature and high-tech at the same time, an interesting contrast that creates a new social and natural space in the changing seasons and with different target groups.
