For almost 20 years, the Max Planck Science Tunnel brought millions of people worldwide closer to the basic research of the Max Planck Society on the major questions and challenges of our time. The touring exhibition we designed and realized is one of the world’s most successful formats of science communication. Once again, one of the exhibition modules will be on display at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) 2020 in Trieste from August 30 to September 6, 2020. In the so-called Max Planck Science Pavilion, the exhibition “Society – a World in Transition” is dedicated to the various facets and challenges of globalisation – from worldwide migration to economic interdependence and cybercrime. The former exhibition module of the Science Tunnel presents in multimedia form innovative projects from the basic research in the humanities, social sciences and law conducted by the Max Planck Society, in particular the two Italian Max Planck Institutes Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome and Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence.
The EuroScience Open Forum is the largest interdisciplinary meeting on science and innovation in Europe for and with society. The biennial pan-European science conference aims to provide stimulating content and lively debate on the latest developments and discoveries in the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. ESOF in Trieste will be accompanied by the Science in the City Festival, which will also include the Max Planck Science Pavilion.
