Innovative Future

At the heart of Guangming, Shenzhen, the new Science and Technology Museum (SSTM) was completed in 2025, based on a design by Zaha Hadid Architects. Spanning approximately 5,500 m², Archimedes Exhibitions is designing the entire fourth floor dedicated to the theme of “Smart Industry.” The content concept blends technological innovations with artistic spatial staging, organized into three central exhibition zones: New Materials, Biomedicine, and Ocean Technology. Our goal is to make the region’s rapid industrial transformation tangible through interactive exhibits and atmospheric spatial design.

New Materials
Under the guiding theme “Material Intelligence Transforms the World,” this section is dedicated to the development and application of modern materials. We bring complex scientific backgrounds, such as the “genetic code” of materials or AI-driven material simulations, to life within the space.

Steel Universe: In this gallery, we focus on steel as the foundation of industrialization. Through interactive displays and quiz stations, different types of steel and their specific properties are taught in a playful manner.

Material Wall: A large-scale installation presents a wide variety of material samples—from ceramics and polymers to various alloys—and highlights their technological cross-connections.

Biomedicine
The spatial concept we developed for the Biomedicine Gallery is inspired by the aesthetics of a futuristic laboratory. Here, milestones in diagnostics, treatment, and digital health are explored, with the interaction between humans and medical technology always taking center stage.

Vital Signs Explorer: The highlight of this area is a large-scale human sculpture. Integrated sensors capture visitors’ vital data, such as heart rate and blood flow, and visualize them in real time as pulsing streams of light using LED technology.

Digital TCM: This exhibit bridges the gap between Traditional Chinese Medicine and digital innovation. Through automated facial, tongue, and pulse analysis, the principles of TCM diagnostics are made individually experiential and carried into the future.

Ocean Technology
The Ocean Technology zone focuses on Shenzhen’s role as a global maritime hub. In the scenography, we capture the dynamics of the ocean through fluid shapes and light installations. Thematically, the focus is on innovations in underwater robotics, maritime resources, and sustainable technologies for ocean exploration. The exhibition conveys how digital transformation and intelligent systems help us understand and protect marine ecosystems.

In total, our Preliminary Design comprises over 120 individually developed exhibits. Our design approach aims to translate technological breakthroughs into aesthetic experiences, providing inspiring entry points to the key industries of the future for a diverse audience.
